My boyfriend has had acne on the back of his neck, behind his ears and along the hairline for almost 3 years. He is 42 years old. Nothing worked to get rid of it. We went to two different dermatologists and tried several antibiotics and several over the counter remedies and nothing worked, even a little bit. I purchased your product at Target to just try it (even though it was kind of expensive). I bought it because we were desperate for some kind of relief. Proactiv® Reviews

I started using the Proactiv 3 step kit. At first it made my skin very red but I kept using it because I was told this would go away. Well I get a new kit every two months and I guess I have been hoping it would work. It was my last resort and I am not impressed. I have been using it for over a year and it may work for some people but I still break out a lot and even in places I never did before. My skin is used to it now so I don't have the redness and dryness I use to but still the product really didn't do much. Patricia, Toronto

This stuff works WONDERS...for about 9 months! It made my acne clear up, my skin feel so soft, and my complexion looked the best ever! BUT THEN IT STOPPED WORKING and my problem is MUCH worse than it EVER was! I wish I never used it! I don't know what it did to my skin, if it dries it so much that it trains you to produce more oil or what; but once it stops working it leaves you with acne that won't respond to ANYTHING! It did the same thing to my sister! I thought I had bad acne when I bought proactiv...but now I really know what BAD acne is! (nodules and cysts) I don't know how all their celebrity spokes people manage to stay clear...what is the secret??? On a side note, after cancelling the automatic shipping, they still kept sending me and CHARGING me for product that I didn't want and sometimes didn't even get! Melanie, Virginia

I've only been using Proactiv for 2 weeks now, but my skin is exactly the same it was before I started using the product. It isn't getting any better, and not even any worse. BUT it's making my skin the driest it has ever been! My skin's flaking off, and the moisturizer dosen't even help. I'm planning on stop using for a couple weeks or so, until my skin is normal again. For a long time, Proactiv was my saving grace. It made a lot of my acne go away- I had a lot on the sides of my face. I used it for about 3 years, until the other night when I realized that it just wasn't working anymore. My face got accustomed to it. It tamed a lot of my acne but it just wasn't doing the job anymore. I realized that my face wasn't in that good of shape, and for the money I was paying for Proactiv, it should have been in great shape. I switched to Cetaphil which I absolutely adore, my face has really improved in a matter of 2 days. I still use the Proactiv repairing lotion though, because it helps to clear random pimples quicker. I'm in my last few days of Accutane. I took 20 mg twice a day for 5 months. I'm 21 y/o and had bad acne, but not the worst. I had breakouts for the first 4 months, but things have cleared up now. The main side effects were dry lips, dryness around the corners of the mouth, and dryness between the eyebrows. I also formed some clogged pores that are very stubborn. Other than that, I'd say it was worth it. If I had to do it all over again, I would- despite the high cost and side effects--it really wasn't that bad! Ann, New York
